To The Lord, On His Holy Mountain

To The Lord, On His Holy Mountain

Lord, who is worthy of your love, your grace?
Not me, in all my selfish, foolish thoughts
So many dark memories of past wrongs
Never living up to your glory

Yet, there is hope for me, for all of us
See here, moments of unrighteous changed
Men and women pursued by grace
Stony hearts made soft by your touch

Moses and a bush of flames
Paul and the Damascus road
The adulteress and dropped stones
Peter and the One who walks on water

Lord, your ways are like no other
You lift the fallen to great works
You embolden the meek to speak truth
Your grace is sufficient, your forgiveness eternal

I need to trust and believe
Your love for me is deep and lasting
Cling to the security you bring
Soak in the joys of your presence

To live is knowing where I go, you are there
To die is coming into your presence forever
My heart and voice sing in praise
To the Lord, on top of His Holy mountain

Psalm 15 and Psalm 16

Eyes weak from crying

Eyes weak from crying

Psalm 6:7

Wrenching sobs
Suffocating sadness
Unfulfilled expectations

Searching, looking
Seeking, hoping
Crying for acceptance

Lord, you remind me
I need to reach out to my world
And love as only YOU can love

I see her sitting in a corner
Of a dim and smokey room
Her lipstick illuminated by the glow of her cigarette

Behind her makeup and tight blouse
She holds her head up with pride
But her eyes give away the fear of how she feels inside

What will they think of me
If they see who I really am
All I want is for them to accept me as their friend

She’s ..
Looking for acceptance
In a heartless world
Searching for admission
To the ones who are loved
Hoping for a friend who will love the one inside
But willing to pay the cost whatever the price

I watch him talking and joking
In the middle of a crowded room
He has a comeback for everything to make everyone laugh

He is the favorite at all the parties
His reputation is well known
But deep down inside he’s only afraid of being alone

What will they think of me
If they see who I really am
All I want is for them to accept me as their friend

He’s ..
Looking for acceptance
In a heartless world
Searching for admission
To the ones who are loved
Hoping for a friend who will love the one inside
But willing to pay the cost whatever the price

Who made the rules of who we should be
How we should act and what we should say
We need to accept without conditions or terms
And love each other as only He can love

We are all…
Looking for acceptance
In a heartless world
Searching for admission
To the ones who are loved
Hoping for a friend who will love the one inside
But willing to pay the cost whatever the price

Reach out to your sister and stand by her side
Reach out to your brother and give up your pride
Reach out to your world and love as He loves
Reach out to your world and love as He loves

Protected

Protected

Happy are those who trust in Him for their protection
Psalm 2:12b

Why do I continally forget you Jesus?
Why do I seek what I cannot find in anyone other than you?
I veer off course so easily
My rebellious nature surfaces again and again

Why do I follow the crowd away from you Jesus?
Swayed by fools gold and empty pleasures
Too quick to build on shifting sands
Wisdom tossed away for temporary folly

All I need to do is trust in you
Daily, prayerfully, seek your counsel
I have evidence that you are guiding me
Proof that you are always with me

Jesus, you are my rock and my shepherd
Pursuing me even after I wandered away
When I put my faith in you I know
I am safe. I am protected!

Refreshed

Refreshed

Jesus, only through your guidance along right paths
Do I not walk in step with the wicked or stand with the sinners
Jesus, only because you make me lie down in green pastures
Do I grow like a tree planted by streams of still waters
Jesus, only because you are with me always
Do I prosper even when I’m walking through the darkest valley
Jesus, only with you watching over me with rod and staff
Do I not fear evil and not go the way of destruction
Jesus, only through your goodness and love following me
Do I yield fruit in every season and not wither
Jesus, you are my shepherd and comfort
With you, I do not want and am refreshed

Psalm 1 and Psalm 23

He Heard My Voice

He Heard My Voice

In childhood innocence
Committing to memory and heart
God-breathed inspired truth
Jesus, the Word who lived among us

Blessed with sensitivity
Love of words and song
Music enriched beginnings
Jesus loves me and all the little children

In youth, hands raised up
Heart longing for meaning
Tearful cries for love, acceptance
Jesus, rock on shifting sand

In sorrow, songs bring peace
With pain, the Word remembered
Filling heart with hope
Jesus, the way, the truth, the life

With time, forgiveness needed, freely given
Sustaining amazing grace and love
Songs of tears, joy, and worship
Jesus, be my everything

“I love the Lord, for he heard my voice;
he heard my cry for mercy.
Because he turned his ear to me,
I will call on him as long as I live.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭116:1-2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God’s love

God’s love

My story is so messy, so much darkness along the way.

Places I’ve been that I never dreamed life would take me.

Dark places and thoughts still linger in my memories.

Yet somehow Jesus saw me there, still loved me there.

He didn’t condemn me nor turn away.

He didn’t yank me out with an angry look or scold.

He lovingly touched my mind, reminded me of his love.

Through grace and patience, He drew me out, towards the light.

He taught me the deep abiding unfathomable gift of forgiveness.

He brought a mirror that didn’t reflect me in all my ugliness

But slowly brought into focus the beauty He had created.

Forever grateful, forever safe, forever loved.
